Description
Table Rock Overlook is one of my most favorite places in the world. The hike to get up there is a fairly strenuous 3.6 miles which cary hikers upwards about 2900 feet to an altitude just over 3100 feet. I know there are much, much higher mountains across the US, but not around here, and I love this mountain.
Table Rock is a rocky plateau shaped mountain in Upstate South Carolina. The name comes from an old Native American tale, which states that a great God used the rock as a table. A smaller mountain, called Stool Mountain, lays beside Table Rock, and of course, the legend is that the God used the stool to sit at the table.
The view from the top of Table Rock is always lovely. In spring, when this picture was created, colorful little wild flowers brighten both the trail edges and the rock facings.
