Description
Babe Ruth is thought to be one of the greatest Baseball players of all time. He was born in 1895. His real name is George Herman Ruth Jr., but he was known by many nicknames, including "Babe Ruth" "The Great Bambino" and "The Sultan of Swat."
Babe Ruth originally entered the Major Leagues with the Boston Red Sox, then was sold to the New York Yankees in 1919. He helped the Yankees win seven pennants and four World Series titles. He was one of the first Five players to be elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He retired in 1935.
It is said that Babe Ruth is responsible for the popularity of Baseball in America. Interest in the game exploded in the 1920's when he came to play. Off the field, he is also known for his contributions to many charities, many of which taught young children to play Baseball.

This is one of my son's favorite quotes. He has this quote hanging on the wall in his room, and he writes it inside the front cover of all of his school notebooks. He is in 3rd grade right now, and, like most 8 and 9 year olds, is obsessed with Baseball, Babe Ruth, and filling his life with happy victories. This quote transcends Baseball and applies to many parts of our lives. It will grow with him and stay with him, and the meaning will grow deeper and deeper as he grows older.
