Description
This photograph was intended to exemplify the beauty in the repetitive nature and texture of the leaves on the common mountain fern. The mountain ferns have always been among my favorite plants to find along trailsides. In the spring, when they first start to emerge, they look like crazy spiral carnivorous plants from the prehistoric ages, but the quickly transform into the beautiful, full plants that are easily recognizable by anyone.
I have always thought the busy, orderly, repetitive nature of each leaf along a stem contrasted beautifully with the lightly flowing nature of the plants. A soft wind will cause a gentle flutter among the leaves that is instantly calming and mesmerizing all at once.
