This photograph was taken at the top of the Table Rock Trail at Table Rock State Park. If you climb all the way to the top of the trail, you can walk South along the top of the rock to experience several different, beautiful views.
The Table Rock Trail is my favorite trail to run, and Table Rock State Park is one of my very favorite places to spend time. In the spring and fall, I try to run the table Rock Trail at least 2 or 3 times a month. It is 3.6 miles from the trail head to the overlook, and there are several beautiful places to stop and admire the surroundings along the way.
Table Rock gets its name from an old Native American Lore. The Native Americans who originally settled in the area believed that a mighty and giant God used the rock as his table, and a smaller mountain just beside it as a stool. Kelly Hazel I was born and raised in Upstate South Carolina. I've loved drawing ever since I could hold anything that would make a mark. In high school, I attended the Fine Arts Center, a magnet school for the Arts. This is where I discovered photography for the first time. I also got to try my hand with sculpture and 3-D design....no talent in that 3rd dimension for me, but I earned a deep respect and appreciation for the artists brave enough to venture into it. I also attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts at Furman University during my senior year in high school.
