There is some mysterious element to seaside carnivals, pavilions, and fairs that sets them apart from both pristine peaceful beaches and the carnivals and pavilions that set up further inland. The sand and salt blast, the roar of the current, create an element of excitement and energy not found elsewhere.
This child, fully embracing the moment and the energy that defines it, has leapt from the sand, spinning his body around and around in the air on an imaginary axis, touching down for only seconds at a time, just as the ferris wheel behind him spins on its mechanical axis.

Kelly Hazel I was born and raised in Upstate South Carolina. I've loved drawing ever since I could hold anything that would make a mark. In high school, I attended the Fine Arts Center, a magnet school for the Arts. This is where I discovered photography for the first time. I also got to try my hand with sculpture and 3-D design....no talent in that 3rd dimension for me, but I earned a deep respect and appreciation for the artists brave enough to venture into it. I also attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts at Furman University during my senior year in high school.
