This image portrays the hood ornament and emblem found on a vintage Chevrolet. I wanted to pay tribute to the detail and attention auto makers of past generations gave to making the vehicle beautiful. I especially like the curve of the hood and the center ridge that draws the eyes from the windscreen, down the hood to a very shiny and aerodynamic ornament, then further down to the Chevrolet emblem and chrome grill. This particular Chevy was a beautiful shade of orange, and I may publish the color image in the future, but I chose to finish this photograph in black and white because I wanted to emphasize the beautiful lines, reflective qualities, and textures of this combination of elements.
Kelly Hazel I was born and raised in Upstate South Carolina. I've loved drawing ever since I could hold anything that would make a mark. In high school, I attended the Fine Arts Center, a magnet school for the Arts. This is where I discovered photography for the first time. I also got to try my hand with sculpture and 3-D design....no talent in that 3rd dimension for me, but I earned a deep respect and appreciation for the artists brave enough to venture into it. I also attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts at Furman University during my senior year in high school.
